E-Therapy
The Answer to All Your Teletherapy Needs

E-Therapy

Diana Parafinuik, Co-founder and CMO
“Necessity is the mother of invention.” As cliché as it might sound, this age-old proverb is grounded in truth, and the genesis of E-Therapy—a pioneer and leader in the teletherapy market—strengthens this perception. E-Therapy's journey traces back to 2009 when Diana Parafiniuk, a seasoned speech-language pathologist and E-Therapy's Co-founder and CMO, used to commute hundreds of miles each week for providing speech services to students across Northern Arizona. Driven by the vision to change students' lives for the better, Diana resolved to transcend the limits of traditional onsite therapy delivery models to ensure that every child gets the therapy they need no matter wherever they are. She identified the acute need for schools and speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to deliver therapy remotely in a more effective and scalable manner. Consequently, E-Therapy was born to offer the highest-quality teletherapy services to underserved children and schools. “We had no guidebook. We charted the path ourselves in terms of leveraging technology and combining it with special education services to reach out to children in underserved areas. When we came to being, E-Therapy was light years ahead of the market with our novel approach to delivering therapy using modern technology,” asserts Diana.

Committed to helping children in need of related services, E-Therapy offers speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, counseling/social services, and assessments and diagnostic services using two-way web-based video conferencing, a proprietary platform, and online education programs. Over the years, the company successfully provided teletherapy services to school districts and rural communities that usually have difficulty receiving services. Today, as an established market leader, E-Therapy provides the highest quality remote teletherapy services to hundreds of schools and thousands of students across all communities in the U.S. Whether it’s reaching out to students in remote locations, such as the Navajo and Hopi Reservation or the schools in Alaska or schools in suburbs and urban areas in California, Florida, and Texas, E-Therapy successfully delivers services to students via its online therapy services.

Navigating Choppy Waters in the Unprecedented Times

Amidst the significant disruptions in the world of education spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic, school district administrators have been compelled to leverage modern technology to stay relevant in the remote learning era. However, administrators have been struggling to lay an effective framework for remote and hybrid learning due to the lack of quality services on the market. “The education industry has witnessed an immediate 180-degrees shift in terms of switching from traditional educational practices to remote learning strategies. As industry experts, we are perfectly poised to guide and support this much-needed transition in education with our knowledge and expertise,” states Diana.

E-Therapy has been leading schools toward remote and hybrid learning even before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Given that the majority of the children do not have special education requirements, most remote learning platforms on the market are not geared toward providing related services. This is where E-Therapy makes a profound difference with its teletherapy services designed for the welfare of kids with special education requirements. “We’ve always been at the forefront of leveraging technology to innovate and serve schools based on their specific needs. The quality of our service makes us standout,” says Harris Larney, Co-founder and CEO at E-Therapy. The company offers its teletherapy platform, STAR, which allows a school’s onsite clinicians and E-Therapy’s therapists to serve PreK-12 students remotely.

Larney explains that often school administrators lack a dedicated platform wherein they can easily view their programs alongside the services being offered to students. The existing platforms don't provide all the analytics that are needed in real-time to assess how students have been receiving services and track their progress. The administrators usually have to follow a lengthy process of communicating with the therapists, gathering information, and then forming a cumulative file for the student. Diana adds, “Our platform takes away these challenges in literally a click as it allows therapists to enter their clinical data notes immediately after a session. This enables administrators to see on a daily basis which students leveraged the service, the type of service, and their overall progress (can be monitored by parents too).”

The HIPAA/FERPA compliant teletherapy platform enables school administrators and Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams to seamlessly track data for easy monitoring, session tracking, and real-time reporting. The platform allows seamless documentation and enhances the ability of school administrators to manage information more efficiently than ever. Besides, E-Therapy’s intuitive teletherapy solution allows for seamless auditing of services while providing school administrators with a bird’s eye view of their IEP.

Bridging the Gap between Students’ Needs and Therapists’ Expertise

Diana explains that the ongoing pandemic has raised the bar for therapists to become experts in the teletherapy space. Through its platform, E-Therapy enables school administrators to train their onsite therapists to become e-therapists with multi-level telepractice training. Additionally, the company assists them through webinars and real-life/real-time training on the incorporation of technology and service in combination.

Being highly flexible, E-Therapy also builds white label solutions and supports companies that need a robust teletherapy platform. For instance, E-Therapy extends its services to Reading Partners, a non-profit organization that recruits and trains community volunteers for providing one-on-one tutoring to over 12,000 students in under-resourced schools across the U.S. As the COVID-19 pandemic compelled them to switch to a remote delivery model, E-Therapy supported them by building a whole new platform that allowed them to get up and running in three months.

Looking ahead, E-Therapy aims to continue innovating and expanding its platform's capabilities. The company plans to make its platform smarter to recognize data-driven trends while incorporating gamification tools that therapists can utilize to engage students better and deliver effective training. “Whether it’s developing administrative tools for the overall efficacy of the programs or smarter tools sets that allow our therapists to get better insights into children’s overall performance, we can do it all,” says Larney. Considering the huge drive toward identifying, providing, and monitoring services to meet students’ mental health needs, E-Therapy plans to embark on its journey in the mental health space. “We are building a structure that therapists, teachers, staff, as well as parents can access and utilize to be able to support their kids’ mental health and wellness,” notes Diana.
